Interests

Martin is a Clifton Hill ‘native’ who lived with his parents and five brothers (no sisters!) near the shot tower in Gold Street until he left to attend medical school at the University of Queensland.

He did residency training at the Goulburn Valley Base Hospital in Shepparton then various registrar placements around Victoria, building skills in Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and broad-based general family medicine. He also completed a certificate of Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) while completing his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

He has a particular focus on men’s health, remarking that
“… men’s health, and especially men’s mental health, is seriously under-treated. This is partly a male thing. Men don’t pay enough attention. It is also the case however that our profession has allowed men’s own behaviour to create a ‘self-fulfilling’ prophecy: If men won’t talk about their health, and especially their mental health, we won’t talk about it either! Fortunately, this is slowly changing”.

Dr Huyhn is keen to play a role in encouraging that change. His passion for holistic and preventative health offers a pathway to this. He will do all in his power to encourage his patients to be active partners in maintaining their own health and optimising the quality of their lives.
